Korea - Seattle - San Fran Time travel
goin home on weds! im not excited yet. i dont think i will feel excited until i land in good ol cali-for-ni-a.
i have a layover in seattle, which means playtime with kandice!
this morning i turned my alarm off and woke up an hr and a half late! ack.
I watched Taken recently on TV and this morning i had this horrible dream that i was sold off to the world of human trafficking. the twist was, i was watching it all in third person so it was freaky...
most of my childhood dreams are in the3rd person. so does that mean i made up all of my childhood stories?

you're a virgin... who can't drive.
It’s not a lie to say that Brittany Murphy changed my prepubescent life (and probably millions of other girls lives) when she played Tai on Clueless. I must have watched that movie 50x. no joke. Rest in peace.

bus card
Yesterday at around 4pm right after I got back from seeing the doctor I was strolling back to the office. I enter the elevator, the elevators are slipt up per every 5-10 floors, so as usual I was in the 18-24 floor elevator. I’m looking straight ahead facing the elevator door and I can see in the reflection some guy taking out his business card, but I didn’t think much of it. I got off at the 18th and I hear this guy say “excuse me!” and I turn around and we share this dialogue:
Him: excuse me!
Me: yes?
Him: you work here on the 18th floor right?
Me: uh, yeah. (duh)
Him: *something in Korean I didn’t understand* here’s my business card. I work on the 9th floor. Can I have yours?
Me: Why? (it sounds nicer in Korean)
Him: uhm… this is kind of embarrassing, but so I can contact you.
Me: oh, im a foreigner….
Him: OHH…. *grabs his business card and runs away*
sigh. knowing me and my luck he was prob a perverted weirdo anyway.

xmas decoration

I've been totally scrooge-ed out this year. It's safe to say that i am not yet in the holiday spirit. even when i pass by all of the xmas lights and decorations, i appreciate the hard work people put into the decorations, but it just seems to lack the right sentiment here in korea. In korea xmas is a holiday for couples (like most holidays here) instead of family. Everything feels so surface level, as if they missed the whole purpose of xmas.
On the flipside, for those Korean holidays that are family oriented, I don’t hold the right sentiment… and sorry to say, I kind of dread them because holding huge gatherings then doing the dishes isn’t much of a party to me. Gosh I’m bratty.
Going back to the states in 8 days and I’m hoping to start getting excited for it soon!

Sorry Sam

After researching solar panels both online and in person I have a very small fraction of experience with photovoltaics. So based on the little I know, here I go…
I saw a commercial for the new Samsung’s solar phone “Blue Earth” and don’t get me wrong, I praise the whole green movement and think there is a lot of potential for the green market but for now we are still at a very primitive.
The idea of a cell phone with a mini solar panel is a wonderful concept, especially if you are stranded in a sunny deserted island. For Edward and Bella, and everyone in Forks, Washington, don’t even bother buying this phone. If you really think about it, how much time do you spend sitting outside with your cell phone in direct sunlight? (the panels must be in direct sunlight to charge) Keep in mind that it doesn’t fully charge in just one minute. Depending on the efficiency of the panel, the type and the size, all these variables can change the scope of the actual functionality. I understand you can charge the phone via outlet and the panels are more for kicks, but why not keep those kicks in until a better solution is found??
Are you willing to leave your cell phone in the sun for an extended period of time so it can fully charge? This could potentially lead to users forgetting their cell phones, or having them stolen. I hope Samsung thought about this and put some special security measures on it. Probably not and probably not a very good marketing scheme.
Let’s put this in perspective. I have a solar flashlight and it ran out of batteries a few months ago since regular indoor light is not sufficient, my office and home window do not receive light, and it’s too cold to sit outside when it’s actually sunny--- basically it’ll be dead until spring.
So no offense Samsung, I’m not about to throw out a few hundred bucks on a concept phone that will basically run as a regular phone but with a futuristic small panel on the back. Oh, did I mention that the shell is made out of recycled plastic bottles? I think the idea is good but I’m not sold as a consumer.
Sorry Sam.

walk me home
lately i started making more of an effort to walk more. it's ridiculous how i still get made fun of for being fat on a daily basis (no exaggeration) by my coworkers. part of the reason why im looking forward to home is to be in a country where i can feel normal and good about my body.
once a friend of mine had a serious talk with me and told me to lose like 20 lbs so people will be nicer to me in korea. how fucked up. it's true. life is way easier when youre skinny.
must walk 15,000 steps per day like sandra
must lose a ridiculous amount of weight like sandra

weekend update
another 7 day work week but its okay because i still have two legs, right?! amen to that
tonight i watched new moon and man.... it was so bad! i felt the same way while watching the first movie for the first time... i really wanted to like the movie and get lost in it, but it was just so cheesy. people in the theater were scoffing, chuckling and the two others who i went to the theater with were even chatting on and off during the whole movie. the movie would have been a lot better if the entire audience consisted of twi-hards like me! after watching the first installment 3+ times, i have concluded that the movie gets better and better each time you watch it. hopefully the same applies to new moon.
today after the movie we ate dinner and while we were having normal young 20's conversations & realized that it had been a while since i hung out with people my own age. the last time i drank with people my own age... no idea. this is sad. once again i am reminded that i am living life wrong... or just different.
