speeches.
wowee it feels like it's been a while.
So the workshop was interesting. i went up on stage at the workshop and presented first, then my teammate presented but bc it was her first time presenting anything (she's 26 but looks 16) she would pause for up to almost 10 seconds and think about what she was going to say... and even let out some tears in the process. it was so strange. i could just feel myself cringe on the inside. at this point i have given so many presentations that i dont usually get nervous esp in front of coworkers, and as an american i guess we're trained from a young age to get up and present things. but dang, i think i was culture shocked. I guess im lucky i could present in english and just talk really fast about related and non related topics. in the end we won 3rd place in the contest and won 100 bucks, go us!
in relation to speaking on stage, the company hosted an award ceremony and my vp was scheduled to go up on stage and give the last award of the night and give a small 5 min speech. 10 mins before my boss freaks out bc he didnt have anything prepared and didnt feel confident bc of his asian accent. he turns to me in desperation and asks, "can you do it for me" and i was like.... "seriously?".... "yeah"
cant say no to my boss so i went up there and winged it in front of aroudn 400 ppl. it was def a moment that i will always remember. i cracked two lame jokes and stuttered my way through the speech. honestly dont remember the second half of my speech, i jsut remember really bright lights shining in my face. i can say for sure that everyone at the ceremony knew me and the company thereafter.
